HPE Switches

There are several HPE accessories available in the market including HPE Switch which is one of the fundamental building blocks of any network infrastructure.

Switch vs Router - Difference

Switches are used to connect different I/O devices to form a network and routers are used to link these networks or switches together.

HPE Switches

HPE Switches are used to connect multiple I/O devices such as printers, computers, and servers together within a unified network and help in sharing resources such as data and files. Apart from this, HPE Switch is mainly used in Local Area Network -LAN. The devices connected over a LAN via switch can share information regardless of where they are located such as campus, department, or a building. This medium of information distribution and sharing is only made possible with HPE switches that connect these devices together.

An HPE switch possesses HPE transceivers (transfer and receive signals as the name suggests) with hot-plugging functionality and is used for high-bandwidth data transfer rates.

HPE Transceiver devices generally possess an electrical interface on the end that connects to the system and ethernet or optical interface outside used to connect the various communication mediums such as a fiber optic cable (in the case of Optical Module) or RJ45 cables (in case of ethernet interface).

There are different types of HPE transceiver modules available in the market that can be used in networking devices. A variety of specifications and compatibility designs are often used to address the different requirements of the user.

HP Procurve

HP ProCurve was the networking division of Hewlett-Packard. Its name was changed to HP Networking in September 2010.

The HP Procurve was famous for manufacturing a 24-port HPE switch with a couple of open HP transceiver slots for media flexibility. HP Procurve offers a High-performance switch design with a non-blocking framework and HP Auto-MDIX (a technology to configure network media connections in LAN) applicable for straight-through or RJ45 cable ports.
