Spinning at 7,200 RPM with a 256MB cache buffer and an 8.0ms average seek time, it delivers high throughput for server workloads, backup operations, and archival storage tiers with a balanced approach to speed and economy. The 12Gb/s SAS interface provides a stable, high-throughput connection with a data transfer rate of up to 1.2 GBps, which is exactly what ProLiant servers and D6000/D6020 storage enclosures are built around.

    What sets this drive apart is its Helium-sealed design, which reduces power consumption and improves storage density, making it ideal for high-capacity enterprise environments. Although hard drives are sealed, they have air inside. Air can create turbulence-induced vibrations which can limit the storage density of HDDs. Helium-filled drives virtually eliminate turbulence because helium is 1/7th as dense as air. This lower density allows the read/write mechanism to spin more easily and precisely, with less drag.
